Claudia Casarino (Asunción, 1974) comenzó su formación en Artes Visuales en el ISA de la Universidad Nacional de Asunción con el objetivo de convertirse en historiadora del arte. Pero fue durante su primer semestre universitario, con la obtención del premio en Escultura I Salón Nacional de Arte Joven La Nación, que comenzó su carrera artística. Desde entonces, cursó estudios de grabado en el taller de Robert Blackburn con el artista Claudio Juarez y de escultura en la School of Visual Arts en Nueva York, como así también estudios en el área de fotografía –medio predilecto particularmente en sus primeros años de producción artística-.

Ya sea a partir de la fotografía o el trabajo en textil, y siempre con la investigación como punto de partida, la obra de Casarino trabaja desde una reflexión a través del género, la conciencia del propio cuerpo —puesto en tensión por fronteras y tránsitos forzados— y el espacio que ocupa el sujeto mujer atravesado por sistemas estructurales de violencia, tanto aquella reconocible como aquella que por su naturalización se torna poco visible o totalmente invisible.

Expone desde el año 1998 y lo ha hecho en 5 versiones de la Bienal del MERCOSUR, la Bienal de la Habana, de Tijuana, de Busán, de Cuenca, de Curitiba, Argelia y de Venecia, así como las trienales de Santiago y Puerto Rico, y en diversas muestras en galerías, museos y centros culturales de Asunción, Santiago, San Pablo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Madrid, Barcelona, Milán, Amman y Londres, entre otros.

Claudia Casarino (Asunción, 1974) began her education in Visual Arts at the ISA of the National University of Asunción with the goal of becoming an art historian. However, it was during her first semester at university, when she won the prize in Sculpture at the I National Young Art Salon La Nación, that her artistic career began. Since then, she has studied printmaking in the workshop of Robert Blackburn with the artist Claudio Juarez and sculpture at the School of Visual Arts in New York, as well as photography - a preferred medium, particularly in her early years of artistic production.

Whether through photography or textile work, and always starting from research, Casarino's work engages in reflection through the lens of gender, the awareness of one's own body - subjected to borders and forced transitions - and the space occupied by the female subject, influenced by structural systems of violence, both the recognizable and the naturalized, which can become less visible or completely invisible.

She has been exhibiting her work since 1998, participating in five editions of the Mercosur Biennial, the Havana Biennial, as well as the Biennials of Tijuana, Busan, Cuenca, Curitiba, Algeria, and Venice. She has also been featured in the Santiago and Puerto Rico Triennials, and in various exhibitions in galleries, museums, and cultural centers in Asunción, Santiago, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Amman, and London, among others.
